Gotta go with Up. Very cool effects and good story.

#2MOJanuary 1, 2010, 12:03 am

Probably District 9. Really cool special effects and storyline.

#3Bryan GillilandJanuary 1, 2010, 8:47 am

With out a doubt it has to go to the whole Matrix Trilogy. The special effects hasn’t been matched since.

#4GJanuary 1, 2010, 3:03 pm

Sherlock Holmes

Great story and photography

#5SharonJanuary 1, 2010, 3:34 pm

My favorite movie was “Blindside”. Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite movie stars and also I liked the fact it was based on a true story.

#6marthaJanuary 1, 2010, 3:57 pm

My favorite is avatar because of the special effects and story line

#7kevinJanuary 1, 2010, 4:22 pm

gladiator

#8bikeriderJanuary 1, 2010, 6:48 pm

gotta go with avatar
it was really wild loved the
animations

#9TalexJanuary 1, 2010, 7:39 pm

I think “Inconvenient Truth” would have to be one of the important films of the decade. Aptly named, it probably told us more than we wanted to know about the state and plight of our world.

#10Lance RedfearnJanuary 1, 2010, 7:57 pm

Hands down it is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It has everything, good vs. evil, awesome effects, battles, love, compasion, what can be accomplished if you put your mind to it. So much more…Nothing can touch this trilogy and the acting is top notch.

#11LindaJanuary 2, 2010, 2:37 am

Titanic-beautifully filed and acted. This true story was told in such a way that you get to know the characters and feel like you are there. Even the music is spectacular.

#12Tim L.January 2, 2010, 4:07 am

Without a doubt: Ray. The Movie Ray based on the life of Ray Charles was great because it captured the essence of the person and his accomplishments. Actor Jamie Fox really brought the role home and received an Oscar to boot.

#13ava haynesJanuary 2, 2010, 3:52 pm

i liked armored and i had mixed feelings about precious

#14TravisJanuary 4, 2010, 5:15 pm

Ive got to go with the Matrix trilogy. I also like the Lord of the Rings but there was just so much missing from the books, it could have been better.

#15DanielJanuary 5, 2010, 10:19 pm

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. From its cinematography to its amazing acting to the spectacular visuals, it creates one of the most compelling and beautiful movies of the decade.

#16John ChamberlainJanuary 8, 2010, 8:45 pm

There Will Be Blood

#17John ChamberlainJanuary 8, 2010, 8:46 pm

There Will Be Blood The Best movie on greed and big oil stunning well made

#18chuckJanuary 8, 2010, 9:02 pm

I will have to choose “The Heatbreak Kid”
that is a great movie. But there were all good this past decade..

#19Michael FriedmanJanuary 8, 2010, 9:06 pm

My favorite movie of 2009 was Up in the Air.
Geoge Clooney was perfectly cast and the two supporting actresses skillfully chosen. It was also a unique take on our times.

#20J ScottJanuary 8, 2010, 9:09 pm

The best movie of the decade: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

#21Teresa EJanuary 8, 2010, 9:21 pm

Avatar! Can’t wait to see it again.

#22GlenJanuary 8, 2010, 9:29 pm

Saving Private Ryan

#23Joe FaulknerJanuary 8, 2010, 9:30 pm

Have to go with the Lord of The Rings trilogy, they were well thought out, made at the same time and released so to have a better impact, great story line and good for all types of movie goers.

#24D DominguezJanuary 8, 2010, 9:37 pm

“Crash” is at the top of my list.

#25NancyJanuary 8, 2010, 9:39 pm

A Few Good Men

Tom Cruise & Demi Moore were great, and Jack Nicholson never disappoints. But it was the subject matter I found compelling.

#26Tadson BusseyJanuary 8, 2010, 9:41 pm

Best movie of the decade? I’d have to go with Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006).

Nicole Kidman plays Arbus who turns her back on her wealthy, established family. She falls in love with Lionel Sweeney, an enigmatic mentor who introduces her to the marginalized people who help her become one of the most revered photographers of the twentieth century.

#27MarkJanuary 8, 2010, 9:46 pm

Tough call. So many great movies in so many different genres. Gladiator, The Departed, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, the Matrix series (though the first and the best was in the prior decade), how about The Hangover – classic, but for overall quality in acting, production, special effects, I cannot find fault with any of the Lord of the Ring movies. Choose one.

#28LizJanuary 8, 2010, 9:49 pm

Definately Matrix Trilogy. How could you top it? Matix has always fascinated me for the story line and the special effects.

#29Angela McPhailJanuary 8, 2010, 9:50 pm

I will go with Slumdog Millionare..it was a great moving..just seeing how those kids lived was so sad but so real.

#30Gean KearnsJanuary 8, 2010, 9:55 pm

Avitar has got to be the best movie I have ever seen. Not because it was 3D because it was so real.

#31RoxanneJanuary 8, 2010, 9:56 pm

I like Precious. This was a great movie.
Just seeing what goes on in someone home.

#32Richard J NimerJanuary 8, 2010, 10:04 pm

Seabiscit, with a doubt, the story was facinating, true and wonderfully filmed. The cinetography was outstanding and the acting was excellent. It rates as one of the best movies of all time. One that I can truly watch over and over again. Clearly the director watched several John Ford films because the movie encompassed all critical elements of a great film.

#33Frank DePaolaJanuary 8, 2010, 10:21 pm

I think Avitar was by far the best I have seen, the direction, the action scenes, the whole consept was outrageous. It was a long movie that seemed to end before I knew it.

It kept my interest and wanted it to continue for another three hours.

#34cynthiaJanuary 8, 2010, 10:27 pm

Trade

Brings to light the reality of human trafficking

#35DANA WILSONJanuary 8, 2010, 10:32 pm

THE MATRIX TRILOGY. CHANGED ACTION MOVIES FOREVER, GREAT PLOT LINE, MADE YOU THINK ABOUT AND LOOK AT LIFE DIFFERENTLY.

#36DaleMJanuary 8, 2010, 10:35 pm

Kill Bill is my pick for best movie of the decade. Action, action, action and of course Uma!

#37ngJanuary 8, 2010, 10:51 pm

The Dark Knight. The Joker. Enough said.

#38cb martinJanuary 8, 2010, 10:55 pm

The departed.

#39JoanTJanuary 8, 2010, 11:05 pm

Pan’s Labyrinth: Fascists vs. Freaky Fantasy!

#40CJanuary 8, 2010, 11:21 pm

if I go solely by which DVD I pull out and watch over and over, I will have to say Chicago.

#41Ron ColeJanuary 8, 2010, 11:43 pm

Most of these votes are for movies that have come out in the past few weeks! The whole decade, come on! My vote is for “Runaway Jury”. Great acting from some great stars, written superbly, with some great tech effects. Moral of the story, the bad guy loses, keeps yopu on the edge of your seat with its action.

#42Patrick M.January 9, 2010, 12:15 am

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy no contest.

#43jeannine bJanuary 9, 2010, 12:49 am

my favorite movies were DA VINCI CODE & ANGELS & DEMONS they were great

#44jeannine bJanuary 9, 2010, 12:50 am

#45FitzJanuary 9, 2010, 1:10 am

Titantic, a true story told in such a way that it grabs your heart an sole.

#46MuskieJanuary 9, 2010, 1:54 am

My favorite movie was Blindside. Hard to beat, a true rags to riches story.

#47gmanJanuary 9, 2010, 4:36 am

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

#48FastOneJanuary 9, 2010, 6:48 am

Avatar in a landslide, but see it 3D in a IMAX.

#49JJJanuary 9, 2010, 7:32 am

C’mon, we talking DECADE here, not the latest. My top 10 are:

10)THERE WILL BE BLOOD
9) CHILDREN OF MEN 8) MULHOLLAND DRIVE
7) A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
6) NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
5) THE INCREDIBLES
4) BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
3) THE DEPARTED
2) MYSTIC RIVER
And my #1 Pick for the decade is:

1)THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TRILOGY

OK, it’s three movies. But how can you separate one from the others? Hobbits, wizards, dark lords all roamed fictional Middle-Earth as Frodo (Elijah Wood) labored to destroy the One Ring in Mount Doom.

Honorable Mention: Inglorious Basterds and Avatar

#50Bob SkilesJanuary 9, 2010, 8:25 am

I have to go with Pirates of the Carribean. Silly but very intertaining

The visual effect, which was largely dropped around the early-90s for not being particularly affective, has made a silver-screen return thanks to far better technology being readily available today, namely

Top 10 Girls Kissing Scenes(3)

In Woody Allen’s film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, virtually everyone locks lips in order to slip each other the tongue. It just so happens that in the rush to French-kiss, Allen’s woody compelled the aging director to script a kiss between two of Hollywood’s most voluptuous and nubile starlets: Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz. Although the
