Fellowship of the Ring/Lord of the Rings/Return of the King was the best movie production of the past decade. It had hold your breath suspense, friendship and love interaction between all creatures on earth, good triumph over evil against incredible odds, beautiful, realistic scenery throughout.

Gran Torino should win hands down.

#5BrianJanuary 9, 2010, 4:37 pm

Saving Private Ryan, and epic movie that had me on the front of my seat for the whole movie. The first movie I ever saw that had grown men weeping as they left. A close second would be Dumb and Dumber just because it is, well the name says it all.

No Country for Old Men

I have been of fan of Coen bros movies since Miller’s Crossing.

In No Country, the Coen bros successfully marry two tried and true American cinema formats, westerns and gangster movies.

The movie also develops the charachter of another american movie favorite – the psychopath, Chigurh.

But in true Coen bros form, not only do we get the psychopath, we are also introduced to silent but strong antagonist Moss and a reluctant hero who is faced with his limitations, Sheriff Bell.

The scene in the hotel room, when Sheriff Bell realizes that he may have cornered a psychopath that he is ill equipped to handle after having sought his father advice, who was wounded in a similar situation is very, very compelling.

Avatar comes to mind because it is the most recent GREAT movie I have seen. So many great movies of the decade!

#21Gregory MaynardJanuary 11, 2010, 2:40 am

There were many great movies this decade. Each one trying to push the envelope for special effects. Avatar is the front runner for these, however, I think this decade will be known as the decade in which Lord of the Rings was successfully brought to the screen.

Marley & Me – Thought it was well done, funny, good family movie, didn’t matter what kind or dog you had, you could see them in Marley. The ending was sad but thought it was tastefully done and a great opportunity for parents to address “death” issues to kids before they loose someone really close to them. It followed the book except for there were alot more funny parts which were not there.

#23TammyJanuary 11, 2010, 2:54 pm

Avator – it held me spellbound front start to finish. Special effects were awesome and in 3-D for almost 3 hours I was “transported” to place of fantasy!!!

#24Nelson JonesJanuary 11, 2010, 4:02 pm

Hotel Rwanda was a great movie that addressed an issue that needed light shed on it.

#25ChuckJanuary 11, 2010, 5:57 pm

Unforgiven (1992) It’s a great depiction of what the West was like and it helped to reinvent the genre of Westerns.

#26Susan B.January 11, 2010, 6:02 pm

Forrest Gump(1994) A great story about the history of the United States as seen through the eyes of someone who has no understanding of what’s going on around him.

#27CWBJanuary 11, 2010, 6:13 pm

Toy Story (1995)Pixar films. This film was done entirely with computer animation and set the stage for a new method of film animation.

#28HeidiJanuary 11, 2010, 6:59 pm

“Across the Univerise” Rocks !!

#29David QuinnJanuary 11, 2010, 11:42 pm

Since I assume we’re talking about only movies released after Jan 01, 2000 thru today I would have to go with John Adams, staring Paul Giamati and of course the entire Star Wars collection has to rate close to the top of any list.

#30wallyJanuary 12, 2010, 1:32 am

No Country for Old Men

#31Jeremy HeslopJanuary 12, 2010, 6:27 am

I’d say The Dark Knight with Lord of the Rings series as a close second.

#32StunJanuary 13, 2010, 12:49 am

I have to agree that Forest Gump is on the top of the list.

#33JegatheezJanuary 13, 2010, 9:45 am

The Dark Knight(2008) is the best movie of the decade.

#34Loraine StoverJanuary 14, 2010, 2:54 pm

Forest Gump trumps all of them!

#35Benji EvangelistaJanuary 15, 2010, 3:09 am

IMHO Apocalypto is one of the best movies in the decade, with special effects, but real effects, no ficticial
Babel was a good movie too, with a very good story with multiple cultures. Recommended to see.

#36Kenneth RockerJanuary 15, 2010, 4:53 am

Top 10 Girls Kissing Scenes(3)

In Woody Allen’s film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, virtually everyone locks lips in order to slip each other the tongue. It just so happens that in the rush to French-kiss, Allen’s woody compelled the aging director to script a kiss between two of Hollywood’s most voluptuous and nubile starlets: Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz.
