They starting with first season in 1987 and since then they are our favorite characters. They presented us more than 500 episodes. Simpsons are longest-running American sitcom and longest running animation show. One thing we all noticed is that even after 25 years, Bard, Lisa and Meggie were never grown up, Homer and Marge never get older and grandpa Simpson is still alive even he should have more than 100 years now. We all wonder how they will look in future and this is great chance to see results. On timeline bellow you can see not just how they will look, you can also see what they will do, in what schools they will go, how their kids will like and much more…

Take a look at the list of the highest grossing films of 2010 and you will see that two main sub-categories unsurprisingly dominate. The sequels and the franchises held a huge number of the top spots, while the children’s features also featured highly in the lists of the high grosser.

It seems that those heading to their local Odeon or other cinema chain in 2010 then, were the loyal fans of ongoing Saga, and families looking for a little light relief in a year that was marred by ongoing financial crisis. So it comes as small surprise that the Top 10 Grossing Films of 2010 were:

1. Toy Story 3 – Children and grown ups alike flocked to their local cinema to soak up this final instalment in the tale of Buzz, Woody and friends. Mums across the country sniffed into their Kleenexes as little Andy grew up and headed off to University, while a whole new generation of movie buffs were introduced to the delights of Disney Pixar’s longest running movie franchise. The film took the Oscar for Best Animated Feature

2. Alice in Wonderland – Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp star in Tim Burton’s signaturely dark adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, which also features Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter in a suitably eccentric role. The film took home the 2010 Oscars for both Art Direction and Costume Design as well as being a box office hit.

3. Iron Man 2 – Robert Downey Jr reprises the action adventure superhero role adapted from the Marvel comic’s character. Directed by Jon Favreau the film was a hit with audiences but missed out on being awarded anything by the academy.

4. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – The teen swoon-fest continues with the third film in the Twilight series, following the exploits of the teen vampires and werewolves as they continue on their exciting journey. Loved by girls and their mums across the globe, the Twilight films continue to bring box office gold.

5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 – the first instalment of the final book of the world’s favourite wizarding adventure was a big draw for theatre audiences. Fans flocked to watch Daniel Radcliffe reprising the role of the boy wizard as he approached the final showdown with Lord Voldemort.

6. Inception – Leonardo DiCaprio stars in Christopher Nolan’s mind bending epic which took four Oscars including those for Cinematography and Visual Effects.

7. Despicable Me: 3D animated adventure featuring the voices of Russell Brand and Julie Andrews, following the exploits of super-villain Felonius Gru.

8. Shrek Forever After: Comedians Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy come together once again as Shrek and Donkey in this final animated adventure. Also stars Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas.

9. How to Train your Dragon – Based on the book by Cressida Cowell this animated feature is so good it was also nominated for the Best Animated Feature but beaten to the Oscar by Toy Story Three – still an enchanting story that has little ones entranced

10. Tangled – this irreverent animated Disney take on the traditional Brothers Grimm tale of Rapunzel was a hit with audiences across the world.

It is often a tradition that new movies are formed when something happens in the pop culture. These movies will be trend based movies as producers want their movies to be a success at the box office. For example movies like Grunge and Citizen Dick were formed in accordance with movement in the pop industry during the early nineties.

The same is the case with poker movies. The directors and producers saw the growing popularity of poker games and therefore decided to make movies and TV shows with this trend. People often go after the latest trends and this gave them a chance for making their movies a success at the box office. Tilt and Lucky you were the movies of that era.

The movie The Grand depicts a detailed description of the poker world. Actually this movie seems more like a documentary. This is because the movie was hot in a simple style without taking much of pain. The style of the movie can be related to that of the gonzo. A sprinkle of humor is there in between and it can create a giggle in people of any age group.

The Grand is actually set round a big poker tournament. It is a world championship of poker and a huge amount of money is offered as the winning price. The price will amount to ten million. The main character of the film is Jack Faro who is played by Woody Harrelson. He is depicted as the grandson of a casino owner. He inherits the Rabbits Foot casino in the film and he is portrayed as a figure that has gone through seventy failed relationships with women.

The movie features poker tournaments as games of characters. It gives importance to these characters and some of these characters point out to the hero of the movie and most of these characters have no names.

Harold Melvin is a popular character in the movie and it is he who entertains the people on a high note. He is a mathematician in the movie and he adopts special mathematical technique s to out beat his opponents. The movie has cameos and the poker game is played by celebrities. This gives more splendors to the movie and thus makes it a must like. It is one of the best movies that have ever been produced with poker games as the central theme. Only the movie called Rounder can match up with this movie. T

CHICAGO – Some films never get a fair shot with audiences. They open in a handful of art house theaters scattered throughout the country before inconspicuously landing on DVD. Passionate movie lovers are left with the task of championing these unjustly obscure titles and helping them to acquire the audience they deserve. Before I reveal my picks for the top five films of 2010 that you probably didn’t see, here are the 10 runners-up.

“Agora”

The feisty, ever-questioning spirit of Carl Sagan is alive and well in Alejandro Amenabar’s fascinating and haunting historical epic. “Agora” functions as somewhat of an antithesis to “Passion of the Christ,” portraying the ancient ideological battles between Pagans and Christians with complexity, intelligence and a refusal to exploit its inherent violence. Rachel Weisz is at the peak of her radiance as Hypatia, a female scholar specializing in astronomy, philosophy and common sense. Yet she’s far from a saint. The theme of altering one’s perception to achieve growth is highlighted in every aspect of the production, which is in the great tradition of provocative spiritual cinema such as Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ.”

“Carlos”

Here’s the film that Soderbergh’s “Che” wanted to be. As Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, the monstrously egocentric Venezuelan revolutionary who famously raided the 1975 OPEC meeting in Vienna, Édgar Ramírez delivers one of the year’s most electrifying performances. With a running time of five-and-a-half hours, Olivier Assayas’s magnificent epic was broadcast on the Sundance Channel in three installments, thus making it eligible for the award season’s miniseries categories. That’s somewhat of a shame, since the film is exuberantly cinematic, and should ideally be played on the biggest screen possible. Though the pacing does lag, particularly during its final act, Assayas and Ramírez brilliantly illuminate the psyche of a self-righteous narcissist.

“Cyrus”

In the same year mumblecore queen Greta Gerwig was cast in the Ben Stiller comedy “Greenberg,” a quartet of Hollywood stars were cast in the Duplass brothers’ latest mumblecore comedy. Both films were wonderful and swiftly overlooked by audiences, but at least “Greenberg” garnered some major nominations at the Indie Spirit Awards. Mark and Jay Duplass have always been the most accessible of mumble– oh heck, let’s just call them character-driven microbudget filmmakers. “Cyrus” is a masterwork of uncomfortable silence and awkward laughter, as John (the sublime John C. Reilly) becomes engaged in a battle of wits with his girlfriend’s grown son (Jonah Hill, in a revelatory performance).

“The Eclipse”

Conor McPherson’s remarkable character study recaptures some of the “Sixth Sense”-style magic that M. Night Shyamalan lost a decade ago. Blending insightful drama with supernatural elements, the story revolved around a haunted widower (Ciarán Hinds), a ghost-obsessed author (Iben Hjejle), and a spirit-consuming alcoholic (Aidan Quinn). McPherson portrays the unpredictability and occasional sloppiness of human behavior with a raw authenticity that is strikingly juxtaposed with the picturesque Irish surroundings. Some momentary jolts of grotesque horror tilt the film dangerously close toward Sam Raimi territory, but other sequences prove to be as ominous and chilling as anything in “Paranormal Activity.” Like “Sense,” this film remembers that the most interesting characters in a ghost story are not the ghosts themselves, but the mortals who encounter them.

“The Exploding Girl”

Oscilloscope Pictures continues its golden streak of unmissable indie gems with Bradley Rust Gray’s quietly captivating extended vignette. It provides an ideal showcase for Zoe Kazan (granddaughter of Elia), whose face serves as a hypnotic canvas for Gray’s visual poetry. Kazan plays Ivy, an epileptic college student struggling to remain connected with her increasingly distant boyfriend, while her longtime pal Al (Mark Rendall) gradually admits to having deeper feelings for her. Despite her internal demons, Ivy exudes great strength, maintaining an external calm even while a storm rages beneath. Few films have observed more impeccably how a heart can be broken or mended merely by the vibration of a cell phone.

Avatar’s habit of breaking records is not coming to an end any time soon, last monday it broke the UK record for the biggest opening-day sales of a Blu-ray disc, selling 222,824 copies, which was more copies in one day than what the previous record-holder The Dark Knight sold in its first week. I’m sure the first week totals are going to be ridiculous. Check out my interview with the legendary and lovely Sigourney Weaver for Avatar’s DVD/Blu-Ray release below.

What was it like working with James Cameron again?

Sigourney Weaver: I found it less intense than in ALIENS, maybe because we’re both older now. He was much more relaxed this time; he was like a kid in the candy store. The hours were long and everything took longer than expected. But it has been such an adventure and I think because I did work with him before, it was wonderful, I know him well. We picked up where we left off, except I think he’s merrier now, he’s happy, he has kids and a family and he was so excited about working on AVATAR and working with each of us.

What kind of director is he?

Sigourney Weaver: Very intense but wonderful. Jim is always so generous, finding out what we want to try with each scene, or what we think about our characters. He is a very gentle, encouraging director who always makes you feel good about what you are doing. He has worked so hard to create this entire world for AVATAR, the whole concept, the creatures, everything. It is amazing, because Jim actually invented the cameras that shot this movie, he shot every frame. I remember reading the script and thinking that it was just so incredibly ambitious. I’m just so thrilled for him, that he’s pulled it off, you know. He’s done the impossible, which was to create this other world, it is an entirely different way of life. And that’s such an amazing accomplishment. I hope he had a good time doing it.

What was the most challenging aspect of the work for you?

Sigourney Weaver: The challenging part was the motion capture work, you do have to pretend it is Pandora, because you are acting on an empty stage, you have to use your imagination. It is all about being very specific, because you might just have a stick or a feather to react to.

Can you talk about your character’s journey in this film?

Sigourney Weaver: When you meet Grace, she’s working for a company that she hates and hoping to work with Jake’s brother, because he is a very promising scientist and she wants him to help her crack this mystery about Pandora, so she can get the corporation (who are mining on Pandora) to stop mining and protect this world she loves so much. When it turns out that Tommy is dead and has been replaced with Jake (Sam Worthington) she is furious, because she discovers that this ex marine clearly has not got a scientific bone in his body. So during the course of the story, she goes from a difficult position, working for a company that she hates, to trying to break through to find the science she needs that will wake them up to what they’re doing. In the course of the story, she is thrown together with Jake again and again. I think they both fall in love with Pandora and he ends up really teaching Grace how to fight.

What’s the theme of this movie for you?

Sigourney Weaver: I think it’s a story about a young man who comes of age and who finds something to fight for. Avatar is a great love story and it’s the story of a modern conflict. It is a conflict between what you love, what you have to do and what you believe in vs. what people are telling you to do. So it’s a very rich story with creatures and places and huge battles. There is nothing modern and cynical about this story. In many ways it reminds me of my favorite classic films. I used to love the feeling of settling into my seat in the theater and then it would say: ‘David Lean Presents’ or something like that and you would know that you were going to a place that would be extraordinary and that something was going to happen to you that you would be thinking about for days to come and I feel like AVATAR is that kind of movie.

You were essentially the first female action star; do you feel that you changed everything for actresses in some ways?

Sigourney Weaver: Well I think that if it hadn’t been me it would have obviously been another actress (laughs). I really loved the character Ripley (ALIEN). I still see the woman who inspired me to play Ripley, she’s awesome. She works as an environmentalist actually. At the time I played Ripley, women were entering the work force and were taking on jobs only men had done before, in the armed forces and in industry, so I think it was the right time for that to happen. But I am really glad that I got to be a part of that. What I love about Ripley is that I was allowed to play a woman as a complicated character, without a man, without anything and that is still unusual. I sort of blame Ridley Scott for all of that and Jim Cameron, because they love women and respect women. Ridley just let Ripley be a person. ”

You have had such a challenging career, what have been the defining experiences for you so far, do you think?

Sigourney Weaver: I think most of my life changing experiences have been as a parent and as a wife. For a mother, just getting your child through the school system is a heroic job. And when I think of my life, I don’t think of my work, I think of my real life. You know, at home I have my family and I have all the different things that I care about, like human rights. There are lots of causes that I work for and when I’m in New York I end up just spending a lot of time on them. I don’t begrudge it all, I’m saying that I keep incredibly busy.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Sigourney Weaver: I love to be with my family, I love to do nothing, I love to read, to be in the garden, I love to take walks, play with my dogs and to cook – I am incredibly boring (laughs). My perfect day would be spent in the country, out in nature with the dogs and my husband and maybe my daughter and her boyfriend. We would hike up some small mountain with a picnic, then have a swim and cook hamburgers or something and then go to sleep.

Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, which has won wide and continued acceptance from the time of its release, has come to be considered one of the screen’s great masterpieces of black comedy. Yet Kubrick had originally planned the film as a serious adaptation of Peter George’s Red Alert, a novel concerned with the demented General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) and his decision to order a group of B-52 bombers to launch an attack inside Russia. Gradually Kubrick’s attitude toward his material changed: “My idea of doing it as a nightmare comedy came in the early weeks of working on the screenplay. I found that in trying to put meat on the bones and to imagine the scenes fully, one had to keep leaving out of it things which were either absurd or paradoxical, in order to keep it from being funny; and these things seemed to be close to the heart of the scenes in question.”

Kubrick remembers that he kept revising the script right through the production period. “During shooting many substantial changes were made in the script, sometimes together with the cast during improvisations. Some of the best dialogue was created by Peter Sellers himself.” Sellers played not only the title role of the eccentric scientist, but also the president of the United States and Captain Mandrake, a British officer who fails to dissuade General Ripper from his set purpose.

General Ripper’s mad motivation for initiating a nuclear attack is his paranoid conviction that the explanation of his diminishing sexual potency can be traced to an international Communist conspiracy to taint the drinking water. Kubrick subtly reminds us of the general’s obsession by a series of suggestive metaphors that occur in the course of the film. The very opening image of the film shows a nuclear bomber being refueled in mid-flight by another aircraft, with “Try a Little Tenderness” appropriately playing on the sound track to accompany their symbolic coupling. As Ripper describes to Mandrake his concern about preserving his potency, which he refers to as his “precious bodily essence,” Kubrick photographs him in close-up from below, with a huge phallic cigar jutting from between his lips while he is talking. Later, when the skipper of a B-52 bomber (Slim Pickens) manages to dislodge a bomb that has been stuck in its chamber and unleash it on its Russian target, he sits astride this mighty symbol of potency clamped between his flanks, as it hurtles toward the earth.

Black ironies abound throughout the picture. During an emergency conference called by President Muffley, a disagreement between General Buck Turgidson (George C. Scott) and the Russian ambassador (Peter Bull) threatens to turn into a brawl, and the president intervenes by reminding them, “Please, gentlemen, you can’t fight here; this is the War Room!” Later, when Mandrake tries to reach the president in order to warn him about the imminent attack on Russia, he finds that he lacks the correct change for the pay telephone he is using, and that the White House will not accept a collect call. He then demands that Colonel Bat Guano (Keenan Wynn) fire into a Coca-Cola machine in order to obtain the necessary coins. Guano reluctantly agrees, ruefully reminding Mandrake that it is he who will have to answer to the Coca-Cola Company. Guano blasts the machine, bends down to scoop up the silver – and is squirted full in the face with Coca-Cola by the vindictive machine.

Kubrick had originally included a scene in which the Russians and the Americans in the War Room engage in a free-for-all with custard pies, but deleted it from the final print of the film when he decided that “it was too farcical, and not consistent with the satiric tone of the rest of the film.” Very much in keeping with the satiric, dark humor of the picture is the figure of Dr. Strangelove himself, Kubrick’s grim vision of man’s final capitulation to the machine: he is more a robot than a human being, with his mechanical arm spontaneously saluting Hitler, his former employer, and his mechanical hand, gloved in black, at one point trying to strangle the flesh and blood still left in him.

In the end a single U.S. plane reaches its Russian target, setting off the Russian’s retaliatory Doomsday machine. There follows a series of blinding explosions, while on the sound track we hear a popular song which Kubrick resurrected from World War II: “We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when.” (Kubrick used the original World War II recording by Vera Lynn, which brought popularity back not only to the song but to Ms. Lynn as well.)
